Pallet packaging

Any time you are packing goods on a pallet, you want to make sure the load is secure and makes it to its final destination undamaged.

To do this, you need to ensure that:

• any nails that might be sticking up on a pallet do not puncture the product you are putting on the pallet;
• any dust, dirt or water that is on the ground or in the air doesn’t harm your load;
• if stacking pallets on top of each other, that the pallets on put on top of the others don’t scuff or crush the product that is on the pallet below;
• the corners of your boxes, bags or product are not damaged;
• the load does not tip over because it is unstable; and
• the pallet strapping doesn’t damage your product by digging into it.

To achieve this protection, you need:

• chipboard or corrugated sheets
  • to go right on the pallet (slip sheets / pallet liners / tier sheets),
  • to go between the boxes, bags or product (layer pads); and
  • to go on top of the pallet (pallet toppers);
• edge protectors or U channel boards to protect the corners of the load and provide support for skids put on top of other skids.
• Effective pallet wrap solutions, whether it be hand wrap, machine wrap, banding film or pallet topper sheets
